HEY YOU GUYS. HEY. HEY HEY HEY. Follow it up!
I started off 2011 like any normal girl in Brooklyn: hangover brunch, front-desk shift at the concert venue, followed by a month-long bout of pneumonia. So I spent most of January in New Jersey, thankful that my insurance had just re-kicked in. Many friends would console me, “isn’t that how that girl from Broadcast died? Shit.” I think we had a housewarming party while I was still on antibiotics.

February rolled in and I was doing better. I came back to Brooklyn, slowly back to work at the venue, and back to work at the literary agency. I interviewed for some jobs. I wrote a lot about how much I hated valentine’s day, and then I started dating again. Some people probably had birthdays. I went to many Brokelyn meetings and ate many bagels. I shopped at a lot of thrift stores. I tried on a lot of lipstick.
Caroline’s piece on the inside secrets of working in retail made the top 10! Check it out if you wanna know get the dirty deets on NYC staples Anthropologie, American Apparel, Trader Joe’s, Victoria’s Secret, and Brooklyn Industries.
I may not have finished my top 10 music list, but at least I made this one. Read it!
Well, Broadist made it to 10,000 followers this week. Shock and awe doesn’t really begin to cover it. We are so appreciative of everyone who has joined us in practicing self-love and wearing what you want and being a cool broad and NEVER apologizing for it. Happy holidays and/or secular festiveness! We love you! Thank you.
Special thanks to our amazingly talented homegirl WONTONS for drawing this.
Did you know that? This used to be my portfolio, a place where I poured my critiques and ideas. Now, it’s just sort of here occupying space on the internet. I’m trying, you guys. I’m trying really hard.
You’d think that a love for music and an urge to write would equate to wanting to be a music writer, but it’s actually the last thing on my agenda these days. That is, in part, why things haven’t been too stimulating on this side of tumblr (see: the other side). I’ve been busy working at two new jobs that were a pipe dream at the inception of this blog but are now my reality. I’m doing music pr. I’m planning events at a concert venue. This is crazy.
I’m not gonna gloat or elaborate because there are potatoes to be made. I’m just gonna be really thankful (and attempt to answer ~2 months of emails this weekend). If you ever need me, I’ll be here.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled blogging to announce that this weekend we hit 5,000 followers! Thank you to everyone for the overflow of support and inspiration. We’re super grateful.
And thanks to Meghan Doherty for finally proving to the world that we did, in fact, go to Bayside High. It’s good to clear the air.
I hope to post here more regularly soon, but only time will tell. Sorry I’ve been so neglectful of my personal tumblr. It’s been quite a weird few months (note, only a few posts back was our ‘1,000 followers’ thing). Time flies.
GPOY.

Here is a helpful little guide I wrote about FNO for Brokelyn. Personally, I’m not yet settled o where I’m headed this Thursday night, but for those of you who would prefer to keep it BK local… this guide is for you. Also, see my past Brokelyn fashion/style-related articles on retail jobs and make-up tests and whatever else you might want to read.
Where are you headed for Fashion’s Night Out?
